We strive to keep our customers informed during the repair or restoration of their audio equipment. Upon receipt of the equipment, we will assign it a work date, which is the latest date we will begin to evaluate and test it. You will be sent email notifications as to what repairs are required, and if an unexpected issue arises, we will likely call you. If we believe the cost of the repair will exceed your authorized amount, we will call you with a new estimate, which you can approve or deny. If this all sounds familiar, that is because you have likely taken your car to a trusted automotive repair shop, and this is like the process they follow. Repairing your audio equipment can be like repairing a car – sometimes you don’t know your concern can be addressed until the fault has been uncovered and the repair has been made and tested. However, we will never knowingly proceed with a repair that will exceed your estimate without first getting your approval.
Restorations are a bit different. Because we will be doing extensive work on your unit, we anticipate that some unexpected issues can arise. Before we begin a restoration, we test the major components of your unit, as any that fail may no longer be available from the manufacturer, and so they may need to be replaced with used items. If that is the case, we will contact you prior to proceeding with the work. We will always do our best to keep you informed of the work that we must do to restore your audio gear to its original performance. Please keep in mind that we are often working on equipment that can be 30 years old, or more. Sometimes the unexpected can arise, but we will always try to do what is reasonable with our customer in mind.
